I pass on this website to you. http://sacredspace.ie
I was searching for link to prayer and meditation and happen (stanced) upon this one.
What struck me was this opening Thought for the day
“Fasting has changed because food has changed. In the Western world it is rare for anyone to die of starvation, though plenty of people suffer from malnutrition – through eating too much fat, sugar or salt. Food has changed its meaning, from being just an essential for survival to being a source of pleasure, temptation, and bargaining between children and their parents. In our culture, weight and eating habits are a highly charged topic, to be approached with sensitivity. But for each of us, Lent can offer energy and opportunity to move towards a happier use of food and drink. It is only when we try to change our habits that we discover how free or how shackled we are.”
How times have changed in past or present do we stop and eat with others. A quiet time for food and sharing what happening in our lives. With demanding schedules, competing priorities, the meal time appears to be lost to the abundance and availability of fast food, I now eat on demand, when ever I desire.
There may be something to the lenten fast, a time to reflect, be thankful for our food and work toward eating and sharing meals. Am I shackled?
This lenten season is a time to reflect, renew and change.
