Dad Day 16 Make a thought for the day

hoab0fI pass on this website to you. http://sacredspace.ie
I was searching for link to prayer and meditation and happen (stanced) upon this one.

What struck me was this opening Thought for the day
“Fasting has changed because food has changed. In the Western world it is rare for anyone to die of starvation, though plenty of people suffer from malnutrition – through eating too much fat, sugar or salt. Food has changed its meaning, from being just an essential for survival to being a source of pleasure, temptation, and bargaining between children and their parents. In our culture, weight and eating habits are a highly charged topic, to be approached with sensitivity. But for each of us, Lent can offer energy and opportunity to move towards a happier use of food and drink. It is only when we try to change our habits that we discover how free or how shackled we are.”

How times have changed in past  or present do we stop and eat with  others. A quiet time for food and sharing what happening in our lives.   With demanding schedules, competing priorities, the  meal time appears to be lost to the abundance and availability of fast food, I now eat on demand, when ever I desire.

There may be something to the lenten fast, a time to reflect, be thankful for our food and work toward  eating and sharing meals. Am I shackled?

This lenten season is a time to reflect, renew and change.

Dad Day 14

THis is one of eight bird feeders we hung today. It was a day of fix up an clean up the deck. We straightened the bird stands and hung eight bird feeders away from the windows and deck. While it was nice to see the birds up close and in person. THe mess that was left on the deck is not worth the clean up. The feeders are out in the yard more. Hopefully the hawks and big black birds will stay away when the pretty little birds are feeding.

Just cleaning the cars. A weekly task that just takes time. If you have the cars you got to take care of them. Cleaning the inside is just one of those tasks.

Winter Visits out State today. Interesting the weather, one day its 80 degrees the next day it’s 30 degrees and the following by a day of 4 inches of snow. Weather like life changes. In these days of unprecedented change and rapid shifts in the weather, we may ask ourselves have we been good stewards of our resources, what part are we playing in the global warming of the globe and the global warming of our hearts. Lent is a time of reflection, a time to slow down and reflect, yet the world tells us, if you are going to compete speed up. Think in action!

The value of repair and saving comes through today. I was the saturday of Shoe Repair. A little Shoe go and black electicial tape. Maybe this is cheap. It would probably do better to pay a shoe repair man to fix them right with “new souls” in the time of lent, I a just trying to ReSole myself in the lenten season.
WIll have to look into more prayer and fasting in the weeks to come.

This creation I could not help, yet I did help it. The Knight is out in the hall for the friday night fish fries at St. Mikes. We moved him around on sunday as we were setting up to pay music at the 9:00 Family Mass in the parish center. These two boys were talking to the knight, and recalling or fantasizing great stories to each other. I move the Knight and asked them to pose for the picture, johnny on the right could not keep his rabbit fingers off the knights helmet, So much for the solemn moment. Kids will be kids, A great pictures their family will have for years to remember! Or for an 4 meg, faster lens iphone!
