Materials: Various bunnies, plastic eggs, glass dish
Process: The fuzzy bunny jumped into my cart when I went to get candy. The others I found in the hutch…they wanted to join the Easter fun so they’ve become the centerpiece.
Reflection: This has been a great Lenten practice. This is my new tradition! Thanks, Kate!

Materials: Fabric, batting, bias tape, interfacing, thread
Process: Sort of follow pattern that I ordered to make this wallet that is meant to hold pins and needles and tiny scissors for doing needlework. Not completely satisfied with how this one turned out, but I think I could do better on the next one. It’s a learning process and the instructions were rather cryptic.
Reflection: This will be nice to have as I am always losing my needles and clippers when I work on little projects. Would be a nice gift for those who sew. Good way to use up tiny snippets of fabric too.

Materials: Various
Process: This one involved procurement–that candy don’t make itself ya know!
Reflections: This lenten practice is fast drawing to a close. It’s been great. Now I just need to apply what I’ve learned to other areas of life.

Materials: slinky fabric leftover from who knows? velcro, polystyrene beads left over from bear making, lavender
Process: Figure out how to get maximum number of bags from scrap of material. Sew up bags, attach velcro, make lining to hold beads and lavender so outside shell can be washed. Put beads and lavender into bags and sew shut. Place innards into slinky bags.
Reflection: After years as a doubter I now accept that lavender is very helpful for curing headaches. These can be used as they are, or can be heated in the microwave. These are worth trying before resorting to Tylenol or Ibuprofen. It’s nice to use up stuff I’ve had on hand for years. Also good to getting around to the “someday” when I was going to use these things.

Materials: Lots of junk
Process: Begin assembling storage containers and make a plan for clearing out Kate’s room for her.
Reflection: It will be so nice to have all of our family back in the same hemisphere again. Only a week left to go now and Kate will be home! It’s time to celebrate!

Materials: Flowers and Butterflies the kids at the library made, thee yards of crazy reflective blue paper (from the scrap exchange), velcro and tape
Process: Tape the flowers down to make a ‘garden’ with the help of some crafty coworkers and terrific teen volunteers.
Reflection: This paper does crazy things when the flash hits it. It was a dollar a yard- so I kind bent the make rules. But I spent the 3 dollars knowing I could use it for this spring- and next summer when the library’s reading club theme is Under the Water.

Megan asked if my herbs had sprouted. Good news and bad news on that front. These little basil plants look nice and healthy, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. On the other hand ALL the basil I planted the first time got about this big, then just shriveled up and died. The other little pots have a few fragile sprouts. I’m babying them and remain stubbornly hopeful.

Materials: Short Story I’ve been trying to work on for the past two weeks, pen, discipline (in short supply)
Process: The story is being very stubborn. I can’t seem to find my way into it and have been finding lots of ways to avoid it. But it’s been perking somewhere in the back of my mind. Today I tried reading it through and realized how to fix some of the problems with it so I started to revise. Also, I’m reading a book that may help me get into the 60s setting a little better.
Reflection: I’ve been away from short stories for a while. I’ve missed writing them and fear I may be rusty. I need to try to keep a hand in with them even when I’m working on longer pieces.

Materials: Fun foam from the studio, scrap paper and pencil (for pattern), bobby pins and scissors
Process: cut out some ears to wear to the PEEPFEST at the library this weekend. I am judging a peep diarama contest. So I thought I should be really professional and ham it up. I’ll wear all pastels and these ears.
Reflection: I love my job. I am really lucky. With the budget being frozen there is A LOT of frustration but events like this make it obvious that things aren’t sooo bad. And bunny ears are really comfortable-I still have them on I think I’ll make a series of different animals to wear to storytimes… I could to bear ears, cat ears, mouse ears, any other ideas?
And you should all come to West Regional to check out the Peepfest this Saturday- but I’ll have Brian take pictures too.
